KAABA-MFI and KIVA has launched a new loan product (Murabaha youth) that will assist 200 universities, secondary, and others vocational graduates to purchase laptops. The objective of the loan product is to empower the targeted groups by assisting 200 students to purchase laptops for theirstudies.
Social impact of K-MFI’s
According to K-MFI's women clients,channeling credit to households through women decreases their own and their household's vulnerability, and it increases investment in the family welfare. This situation benefits children through increasing expenditure on their nutrition and education, particularly for girls. It can also lead to improved well-being for women and enable them to bring about changes in gender inequalities in the household as it is also likely to benefit men as a result of the increased household income.
Anisa and Fazia (aged 20&23) have joined the program in 2008 and have set-up their own income generating activity where they sell Somali traditional crafts.Theyarenow self employed and can support their families,their lives have changedfrom being illiterate and unemployed to self-employed.
